Off the beat and path of the traditional ways to reduce, reuse, recycle... Here a few more...
College Textbooks- sell them back to the college or university, if the college or university doesn’t take them back sell them online…
Secondhand Clothing- again on the topic of reuse… Find a local charity and give your old clothes away… Donating used clothes has at least four benefits- 1. Help the environment by using less energy to make new clothes, 2. reduces the amount of clothes ending up in landfills, 3. Help a family who is less fortunate and lastly receive a tax credit.
Paper waste is everywhere- in the public sector, the private sector, in the classroom… At an early age children are getting handouts to work on that are single sided… Why can’t we use double sided paper- it will cut paper supply in half therefore using less natural resources, it will also use less energy to print but we should see a tax savings at the end of the day when the schools lower their operating expense.. Now, let’s not only pick on schools if yuou have ever worked in a corporate environment- you see paper waste day in and day out.. Ever watch the secretaries printing before a big meeting? Does anyone ever make sure all the extra paper was recycled? Does anyone take the excess paper back and write on the back for scrap paper???
Sporting Goods- Donate your bats, gloves, tennis balls, tennis racquets, golf clubs and all other equipment to charities rather than throwing it away.
