Everyone loves electronic devices and all they can do for us but here are ways to use less energy while still receiving their benefits as well as ways to disgard them when you purchase new items.
Old Electronic equipment (computers, monitors, faxes, etc)- recycle them…
Old Cell Phones- recycle them. Battered woman shelters would take these from you…
Copier/Fax Paper/Envelopes- use those from recycled content…
Recycle your ink cartridge when finished…
Laptops vs. Desktops- laptops use fewer materials and less energy.
LCD vs. Plasma- LCD uses less energy than a Plasma TV
Corded Phones- will corded phones make a comeback after 20 years of cordless phones… Cordless phones use constant energy…
Voicemail saves more on electricity than answering machines. Answering machines are plugged in all day- therefore drawing power 24 hours a day, 7 days per week… Many times, voicemail is provided through your phone providers package at no additional fee.
High Speed internet- if you haven’t made the move to high speed internet, give it a shot... You can use the internet at speeds greater than 100 times the speed of dial up and search, download things in a much shorter period of time…
Ink Jets vs. Laser Printers- Ink Jets are a lot more efficient than laser jet and use much less electrical.
Put computers in sleep modewhen you are away for long period of time.
Use Energy star electronic equipment.
Power strips are a good way to turn off the power when devices are not in use.
Electronic Equipment and Chargers- unplug TV, cell phone charger, computers
